Hello Elixir:  Yes, I see the port on my Macbook pro

I also have a minidisplay port on my iMac.  My question is whether connecting these two ports will enable me to see a slide deck on my macbook pro on my iMac.

Alright. All you need to do is to buy a mini display port cable then connect it to your imac screen then the other end should be connected to the thunderbolt port on your macbook pro to perform dual monitor.

That should do it.

Let me know if you have further questions.

The question is whether MY iMac will work.  People at the Apple store are not sure.  They say some iMacs will work and some not, depending on when they were made.  I have a thunderbolt to thunderbolt connector but that does not help me as my iMac does not have a terminal to accept the thunderbird connector.

May I know the year/model of your IMAC. I tried to call you on your phone and it is still directing me to your voice mail.

I don't have the year/model.  The Serial number is W8044Z6KDAS, which I suppose is equivalent to knowing the year and date of manufacture.

Dear james, It was a pleasure helping you with your Apple issue today. Here is a summary of the resolution.
Issue identified : cx wants to use his imac as a dual screen or external monitor
Solution Implemented : called cx and checked the version of his imac. The imac is a mid 2010 version and doesnt have firebolt port capable for the dual screen. Told cx that the next version (2011) is the one that has firebolt port capable for the dual screen. cx understood. End of call.
If issue resurfaces in next 30 days, come back to this Question page and let me know. If you are unable to find your way back to this Question page, please contact our customer support either by email (s**[email protected]) OR call us at ***-***-****
